Ingredients
- onion1
- vegetable oil2 tbsp
- garlic3 cloves
- fresh ginger1 tsp
- berbere spice1 tbsp
- water2 cup
- shiro powder0.75 cup
- salt0.5 tsp
- lemon0.5
Instructions
Dice the onion and sauté in oil over medium heat until deep golden brown, stirring occasionally.
Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and berbere spice. Stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the water and bring to a simmer. Gradually whisk in the shiro powder, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Simmer on low heat, stirring frequently, until the stew thickens to a creamy porridge-like consistency.
Season with salt and a squeeze of lemon. Serve hot with injera or flatbread.
